We’re proud to share that our Managing Director, Aaron Hazelton, has co-authored an insightful article in the latest issue of Create Magazine by Engineers Australia, alongside Dr. Jianfeng Xue from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). This collaboration shines a spotlight on the potential of rammed earth as a sustainable and structurally sound material in modern construction.
Rammed earth is gaining momentum as the industry seeks greener building alternatives. With rising demand for carbon-conscious materials and improved thermal performance, traditional methods like rammed earth are being reimagined through contemporary research and engineering.
The article, supported by the Australian Research Council (ARC), explores how rammed earth compares to conventional construction materials, and how its lifecycle performance and low embodied energy can contribute to a more sustainable built environment. Backed by both laboratory testing and real-world case studies, the research highlights its thermal efficiency, structural capacity, and aesthetic appeal.
This feature is a testament to our team’s commitment to engineering innovation and environmental responsibility. We’re thrilled to see rammed earth—an age-old technique—evolving into a viable solution for the future of sustainable construction.
