As a city of active travel, many would agree that cycling is one of the best ways to see Canberra’s sights. Indesco Principal Landscape Architect Paul Brookbanks and Senior Landscape Architect Michael Roy recently proved this by leading a cycling tour of Lake Burley Griffin and surrounds for the Parks and Leisure Australia NSW/ACT State Conference 2019.
Attendees of the tour were granted some stunning views of the Central Basin, along with visits to local landmarks such as the Boundless National Children’s Playground, Commonwealth Park and Henry Rolland Park. They were joined by speaker Jodie Robinson who presented at the Boundless Playground, and as a team the organisers delivered an excursion that not only showcased local play and recreation spaces, but informed attendees about meeting the active recreation needs of the community through considered design and use of open space.
Thank you to all speakers and attendees for making the cycling tour possible. Special thanks also to Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council and in particular Debbie Sibbick for assistance and some wonderful photos of the day!
