Indesco was commissioned to complete a high level alignment study for the new Uriarra Main sufficient to issue for a Design and Construct contract. The objective of the project was to supply water to the Uriarra Reservoir to meet demand for non-potable water supply to the Uriarra Village.
The existing Uriarra Reservoir supplies raw water to the Uriarra Village. This reservoir is supplied by parallel mains collectively known as the Uriarra Main. The Uriarra Main is supplied from the Bendorra Gravity Main. The Uriarra Main was constructed in 1972 and became a gifted asset to ICON Water (then ActewAGL) after redevelopment of the Uriarra Village.
Our design identified an optimal alignment for the new main, reducing the alignment by 1.5km from previous estimates and providing a constructible solution for sections of the route that have grades in excess of 30%. We were also able to identify potential solutions for access and road batter stability and worked in consultation with ICON Water’s environmental team to address ecological and heritage constraints.
