The QPRC Queanbeyan Civic and Cultural Precinct Development is a project which will have a lasting impact on the Queanbeyan CBD.
Indesco carried out the detailed design for a new 6 storey office building which will become the Council’s new headquarters. The structure will link in the existing Bicentennial Hall and the Queanbeyan Performing arts centre which involved new structural supports and staged removal of existing facades. The design also included a large basement car park and podium over with a wealth of landscaping and architectural storage buildings and shade structures. In addition, the ongoing operation of the Q, Bicentennial Hall, Council Chambers and other adjacent Council and private buildings will be required to be maintained and considered in staging of the works. Indesco is assisting in the development and documentation of the staging of these works as part of our engagement.
Indesco’s early involvement meant a concept was produced with long span post-tensioned office slab and band system maximising office space whilst maintaining vertical structure alignment leading to an efficient structure. Detailed lateral analysis was carried out for cores and refined wind analysis was required to achieve feasibility of architecturally complex steel structures.
