Indesco were engaged by Arawang Primary School to prepare plans and ideas for an indigenous garden that showcases local endemic plant species, stories and place making from the original custodians of the land - the Ngunnawal people - and provides a range of outdoor education opportunities.
Indesco worked in collaboration with the School, local indigenous community members and Wellspring Environmental Arts & Design - who created artworks and project managed construction - to facilitate a design that captures the value of its indigenous community and integrates it with the school curriculum. The garden consists of a main pathway or 'songline' that represents the Molonglo River, various motifs of boomerangs, bogong moths and eagles and a selection of raised planter beds for endemic and edible plants.
