West Basin Redevelopment – Stage 1
Henry Rolland Park will be officially opened to the public on Saturday 28th April. Located on the foreshore of Lake Burley Griffin, to the west of Commonwealth Avenue Bridge, the park is the first stage of the West Basin redevelopment.
Indesco were commissioned to update the concept plans, prepare detailed designs and worked closely with Chincivil during the construction of this high profile park. Henry Rolland was a prominent architect during Canberra’s early construction, working on landmarks such as Old Parliament House and Duntroon.
The design promotes our love of active living, enhances foreshore open space connectivity and celebrates the iconic structures on the 1918 Burley Griffin Water Axis. The boardwalk, share zone, great lawn and exercise stations cater for a wide range of users and are expected to be very popular. It has been a fantastic project for all involved and the team is currently working on the design for the next stage of the redevelopment.
